About Uncommon Works Beeswax
Some information about the beeswax I use in my candles and tealights, from my supplier:
The beeswax is sourced from a variety of small scale beekeepers, who are part of a larger syndicate that collects the harvested raw beeswax from the individual beekeepers. The bees are wild, with the wax being produced by the bees during hive formation, as part of their natural lifecycle. The means of “harvesting” the beeswax doesn’t have a detrimental effect on this process, or on bee welfare. As with honey collection, sections of the physical hive are removed and the beeswax is collected before the hive section is replaced with fresh foundation sheets that encourage the formation of fresh hive sections.
